Some FAQs to answer those questions in your mind. (:
Interested BANANAs, please contact JEREMY to join together!

Q: What Is A Docent?
A: The word `docent’ is derived from the Latin word `doceo’, meaning `I Teach’. As a volunteer ranger, you work with the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and Jurong Bird Park to promote interest in wildlife among visitors and to inspire them to care for nature.

Q: What Does A Docent Do?
A: Docents are based at Discovery Stations located at our three parks. Interpretives, games, props and animal artifacts are some of the tools which you will use to educate and engage the visitors.

Q: Will I be able to touch the animals?
A: Docents do not have any direct contact with the Zoo’s animals or plants. Only under the supervision of the zoo keepers, docents volunteering at certain discovery stations will be handling animals.

Q: What is the training period?
A: You are required to go through a 12-week training programme, which offers you an insight into the workings of the Zoo, Night Safari and Jurong BirdPark. The training will also equip you with knowledge on animals, wildlife conservation as well as public presentation skills.

Training sessions are held on weekends (from 7 Jun – 30 Aug 2009), 9am to 5pm.

Q: Are community involvement points awarded?
A: No. The docent programme is aimed at volunteers who come forward to help the animals and spread the word of conservation.

Q: What is the age requirement to join the WRS docents?
A: You should be at least 19 years old. Applicants below 19 years of age will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Sry for the late post, was abit bz =)

Bananas Present: Alison, Chester, Cindy, CK, Jeremy, Joey, JunWei, KuoHow, ShiMin, ShuNi, WeiJie

Venue: Bugis

I was late, so when i meet up with them, they were having lunch at soup spoon. After lunch, when we left the mall, it was raining heavily and we need to cross 2 traffic light. But we only had one umbrella so we use jackets also. There's also one kind lady who is willing to share her umbrella with us, Thx very much =)

Finally, after 千辛万苦 we reached the mind cafe. We settle down and the games begin. 1st game was a new version of taboo and the process of the game was quite funny with all the *sabotaging e other group with passes*. Because our group was too big for many games, we split to 2 groups, 5, 6. All the games are quite fun and a little stress cause it comes with a forfeit, especially the bone thingy game. Time flies and it time to leave.

Then we went back to bugis and had dinner at the food junction. After dinner, we went to the new shopping mall(dunno wat name) to see see look look. We went to the arcade and watch ppl playing with the grab things machine(dunno the name). Then we start taking pics with cartoon characters at the side of the arcade. Tired after the photo taking session, so we went home after that.

when holiday comes, it meant we can meet up again! =)

The new cycling event will be scheduled on 13th March 2009, Friday.
It will be a afternoon till dinner event, program list will be up on the blog by saturday, most likely will be from 1pm to 8pm. OF COURSE! we are not cycling for so long, we have our light lunch and cycling till evening, and we will cycle to bedok jetty to watch sunset =). then we will have our dinner at parkway nearby and some entertainment? =)

Movie: Twilight

Ytd all the banana-ians except weijie, meijun and taiyu went to plaza sing together to watch twilight. As usual more and more ppl join in our outing :D The ppl are... cheryl, anne and kelvin(dunno spell correct anot shd be 75% wrong)

Some of them have briefing so they went to sch to meet up for the briefing first. Then I hop on to bus 69 to meet up with them. After that we meet steven at bedok int and went to take mrt to Steven's station(dhoby ghaut station). The first thing once we reached there, find alison, shimin and shuni :P then book movie tickets.

Dinner time... Hao Bu Rong Yi our Da Jie Da(Kai Ling) found 2 long table to allow 15 ppl to sit down and eat our dinner at the foodcourt. Steven is the star of ytd gossip. hoohoo. U know we know can le no need to blog out ba :PPP Then after that we went to our favourite hanging place which is the arcade. Then movie.

After watching the movie, everyone seems tired and went home. Hopefully no one missed their last bus. Overall I think the movie is ok not too lousy or amazingly interesting. I like the part when 3 vampires killed one vampire by twisting his head and burn him to death. Quite touching and romatic for a normal girl to fall in love with a vampire.

Opps I almost forget about alison balloon :P quite annoying to hold it along the way through out the outing rite? haha. Finally there will be a photo posted to our blog :D

Today's outing, ok, maybe yesterday's outingwas not the best, but overall still quite fun.Not the best, why?Coz Pok Chang, Cindy, Mei Jun and the new Bananaians are absentWhere are you guys? We were suppose to meet up at 6pm at mushroom.But what can i say, we are excited to meet up that most of us gathered at 4pm plusin the library, level 5, which i think create lotsa noise. OopsEveryone manage to be present before 6, plenty of time to eat and stuff.We have visitors to join our banana outings, Kelvin and Taiyu.Zhang shen gu li gu li... Bought tickets for a total of $104, 11 people.$9.50 each, just burnt a hole rite though many of our pockets!!Went BK to eat dinner first before watching the movie.Review: Not bad, although i don't reli have that humour in me to laugh at all jokes,But it was ok, although it still makes me wonder how the Hippo and Giraffe can have a future together. hahah... Ended the day with a walk through the mini carnival (for children)For a moment, i felt like we all had deprived childhoods, that need to go to such extent to hui xiang shi guang... hahah... we were formed during CSC Inspiration! Camp AY08/09
comprising of 10 elite bananas, tasty and yummy ;)
more and more realised the need of a good digestive systems, thus they joined us!
